Chad Mayes Scrubs References to Christian Faith from Campaign Website
Assemblyman Chad Mayes (R-Yucca Valley) has scrubbed all mentions of his Christian faith from his campaign website.
Here is what it used to say:
Chad and his wife Shanon live in their lifelong hometown of Yucca Valley. The son of a pastor, he is a committed Christian and leader in his local church.
The son of a pastor who has always cloaked himself with his religion to sell himself to voters in his conservative district, Mayes' entire identity is wrapped up in his egotistical need to acquire political power. He had always dreamed up becoming a member of Congress and the grassroots effort we lead to oust him from leadership has jeopardized that potential possibility.
In August, he was subsequently ousted by his caucus and relegated to the Thanksgiving table reserved for the kiddies. In October, Kristin Olsen finally resigned from the California Republican Party.
Ironically, Olsen also publicly presented herself as an evangelical Christian. Who can forget the time that she and other members of the legislature, including Mayes, sang gospel songs on the floor of the legislature or when she led prayer breakfasts.
Mayes filed for divorce earlier this year and his website no longer mentions his wife or his faith. Here is a screenshot of what it looks like today:
