Leaked Audio: Assemblyman Chad Mayes Blasts Senate GOP Colleagues for Spreading False Info on Cap and Trade Bill
Attendees of the San Bernardino County Republican Central Committee meeting featuring Assemblyman Chad Mayes were informed that any recording of the proceedings was prohibited. However, American Children First has received several clips of the August 10 get together.
Mayes adamantly defended his vote, maintained that it was a conservative vote, and stated that he would do the same thing all over again. In fact, there was really only one aspect of the AB 398 cap and trade fiasco he took partial blame for and that was losing control of the narrative and not having a better handle on the messaging.
However, even in that brief moment of humility, Mayes could not help but slam his colleagues in the state senate as you will get to hear below. Mayes has the reputation for being an arrogant "know-it-all" who believes he is the smartest man in the room.
Which is interesting because Assemblyman Rocky Chavez claimed to be one of only three members of that body who even knew what cap and trade was all about.
Here is the clip:
Now Mayes did not articulate which senators put out the erroneous information nor did he elaborate on exactly what that erroneous information would have been. But he did refer to oped pieces and I believe that Senators Jeff Stone and Mike Morrell were two of the more outspoken critics of the largest gas tax increase in American history.
